Ally & Jacob | Penitente Canyon Engagement Session

Oh my, I can’t believe my cute little niece with the chubby cheeks and feisty personality is getting married. Wait, she doesn’t have chubby cheeks or a feisty personality anymore!! Actually, she has grown up to be an absolutely beautiful and sweet young lady. I just can’t get over the fact that she is grown up!!! I am so proud of Ally and all she has accomplished so far in her life. And I am very excited to have Jacob in the family. Although I don’t know him very well, he seems to adore Ally and that’s all an aunt can ask for, right? I do know him enough to know that he is kind and loving and likes to laugh. I loved watching them interact during this session. They are so cute!!! Jacob and Ally are going to make a great team. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.

As with all sessions this time of year, we were looking for a place out of the wind. Penitente, with its high canyon walls, was a good choice. I wasn’t sure how green it would be, but I was pleasantly surprised to see this place in all its beauty. We were not the only ones wanting to experience Penitente in May. Although everyone else was there for the rock climbing or camping and not for the picture taking. Of course, they were cordial and tried not to photobomb any of the setups and it was fun to watch the rock climbers when we had a chance. All in all, it is one of my favorite places to visit whether I’m on duty as a professional photographer or just looking for a fun day trip with my husband and kids.

The fact that I was there for my clients did not deter my family from tagging along. As soon as we got there my husband and two daughters were off on their adventure and I only saw them once in a while as they called to me from their high perch. My girls, especially my youngest, love to climb. Once while walking by a huge boulder and seeing my seven-year-old sitting on top, I called up, “Hey, what are you doing up there?” She called back, “Just Chillin’!” Crazy kid!!

I think we all had a great time and I got some amazing pictures of a stunning couple at an epic location. What a fun evening!! Thank you, Ally & Jacob, for taking time out of your short weekend home to head up there with me. Thanks for letting me be a part of your big day and thanks for being a great example to the whole family! We love and support you and wish you all the best things this life can bring!!
