Harmony Peterson-Senior Session

One of my favorite authors, C.S. Lewis once said, “There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.”  As a high school senior, I remember wondering if everything good in my life was ending after graduation.  No more of my mom’s amazing meals, no one to go to if I needed a few bucks, no desserts laying around the kitchen, no family surrounding and supporting me in everything I do.  No, I was going to have to cook my own food, do my own laundry, clean my own house, make my own money.  Yikes!!!   Other than a few friends that came with me to Rexburg, Idaho, and a phone call home every Sunday evening, (when the long distance rates were cheaper), I was going to be on my own.  “Adulting”, as they call it now, didn’t seem all that appealing.

But, C.S. Lewis was right!  As we grow toward the person God indented us to be, we will find happiness all along the way, in every stage of life.  So to all you seniors out there that are nervous to leave behind your old life,  take heart.  There is help and happiness ahead.  A whole lot of it!!!  Yes, the best things are yet to come.

Harmony Peterson is a senior at Sanford High School.  She enjoys playing softball, basketball, and the piano.  She is also involved in FCCLA and FBLA.  Harmony plans to major in elementary education so she can make a difference in people’s lives early on.  She has also thought about being a graphic designer and loves the idea of always creating.  Whatever she decides to do, I know she will be great at it.

Thank you Harmony, for your sweet personality, easy going attitude and beautiful smile.  People like you, make my job easy!!!  I may not have spent a lot of time with you, but it didn’t take me long to see that you have the potential to do great things.  Keep smiling, keep working, and you will find that what you leave behind when you graduate, is nothing compared to what lies ahead.
