Southern Colorado Based Photographer Celebrating Family
The first look took place in the elegant Elizabeth Hotel with a small group of close family as onlookers. When Madison started to descend the circular staircase with her groom waiting at the bottom, it felt like we had been transported into a fairytale. Madison indeed looked as lovely as any Disney princess and Weston played the part of prince well. I love watching the reaction of the groom during the first look and Weston did not disappoint. If you want to see a tender video of the moment, check out mahalridge.films on Instagram. Rebecca does an amazing job as videographer.
We then moved on to the Fort Collins Temple. Despite our luck of extreme wind during the engagements, we hit it just right for the night before bride and groom formals. The wind was calm and the temperature was just right. This wouldn’t have been the case if they would have postponed their wedding date even one day. By Friday night the 60-mile-per-hour winds would have put a damper on the session. But, alas, as Disney movies go, it turned out just right. I loved spending these few hours with the bride and groom to be and getting some great pictures for them before the craziness of the wedding day started.
One of my favorite moments, not just of this wedding day, but of any wedding I have ever shot, was when Madison sat down at the grand piano in her getting-ready room and played a piece that brought tears to the eyes of everyone in the room, including the photographer! Maybe it was her amazing talent as a pianist or the fact that she sat there looking stunning in her wedding dress, or that mom, sisters, mother-in-law, and bridesmaids were all there to love and support her or all of the above, but it was a powerful and tender moment. Thanks, Madison, for sharing your talent, for bringing the Spirit, and for being the sweet person you are!
The sealing brought more family and friends and a little bit of wind. Good thing we didn’t spend much time doing pictures that day. (That’s the beauty of the night before session.) It was fun to see how much love and support this couple has. My favorite part of the sealing day is seeing the bride and groom exit the temple with smiles on their faces and ready for a new adventure as one couple. Madison and Weston truly complete each other.
The Saturday reception at the Opera House in Manassa was classy, to say the least. Again, Blume Floral & Wedding Design was amazing! Don’t skip over the pictures of the reception. I loved everywhere I looked and loved capturing the pretty details. The cake cutting, dancing, and sparkler exits were a fun addition to the evening. There was a great turnout and everyone seemed to be having a great time.
Madison & Weston, what a great start to a great adventure for you! I want you to know you will always have a friend and cheerleader in your corner. I have loved getting to know you better and can’t wait to see what you achieve together. I hope you live happily ever after, just like every Disney couple!!!
