Southern Colorado Based Photographer Celebrating Family
He drove an hour each way to get her there. He wore what she picked out for him. He took her hand, and carried her shoes. He helped her get them on when we arrived at the perfect spot on the trail. He smiled. He wasn’t there for him. This was her day. This girl, his bride-to-be, with the sweet smile and the infectious laugh. It was easy to see that he would do anything for her, and why not? Was she ever not smiling? I have known her for years, and I have never seen the smile leave for long. Even through the tears, she has always had a quick smile for everyone. No wonder she caught his attention the first day he saw her.
They met at church. They dated through the summer, spending much of the time with his family. Her smile fits in well there. There is never a shortage of laughs in the Peterson home. When summer ended, she headed to Mesa State and he to BYU, but the distance didn’t keep them apart. She said “yes” in May and they will be sealed in the Albuquerque Temple in August.
Delrena and Clayton, you may not know it, but you both are dear to my heart. I watched you Del, through high school and beyond and have been amazed at your determination to be your best, to see the best in others, and to always, always, be grateful and happy! Clayton, I have cheered you on, (through your mom), during basketball games, academic achievements, a mission, and some really hard engineering classes at BYU. You have always stood out as a doer and an achiever! Now that both your paths have crossed, I am excited to cheer you on together. Congratulations, you two will be a great family!!!
